- Develop strategies for improving patient adherence to diabetes regimens, including effective self-management.
- Analyze and apply methods for overcoming therapeutic inertia in diabetes management, such as motivational interviewing and shared decision-making.
- Describe effective dietary, exercise, and psychosocial interventions for patients with diabetes.
- Review evidence-based recommendations from the most recent clinical society guidelines across the spectrum of diabetes management.
- Design individualized treatment regimens that include appropriate dosing strategies for antihyperglycemic drugs based on patient characteristics and treatment response.
- Compare and contrast the various types of insulin as well as the risks and benefits of insulin therapy for a given patient.
- Prescribe therapeutic regimens for patients with type 2 diabetes (T2D) that incorporate drugs with benefits for comorbid conditions, including GLP-1 receptor agonists, and SGLT-2 inhibitors.
